The term "merienda" comes from the Spanish language and Filipinos only started using this term after the Spanish colonial period. This word basically means 'a light afternoon snack'. From anywhere around the country, children were always accustomed to enjoying a merienda in the mid-afternoon. Whether they were at school or just playing at home, parents would often whip up something in order to have some merienda for their kids. The common choices for merienda foods are Filipino delicacies, bread, pastries, and biscuits.
This is how Munch Creatives first came up with the 'Alas Tres Tingsz' campaign. The team wanted to embrace the merienda culture in the Philippines. Every 3:00 pm on Saturdays, the team posts a story of their merienda snacks which is usually some local chips and even a glass of juice on the side. The 'Alas Tres Tingsz' campaign aims to be relatable for the audience and followers of Munch Creatives.
