Let's understand the meaning behind the shelf placement of our favorite snacks!
Products sold in the supermarket or stores with shelves are actually strategically placed. Items placed on the top shelf are either costly or are just not so popular in the market. Another level in the division of shelves is the 'reach shelves'. These are also known as, 'eye-level shelves' which easily attract shoppers. Only the best-selling and leading products are put in this spot. Reach shelves for kids are also a good strategic spot as kids are quickly interested in products they can spot. Lastly, bottom shelves hold the products which are large and heavy, but also items that customers can easily lift and checkout at the cash register.
Looking at a picture of one side of the snack food aisle, we can easily spot that the large-sized chips are placed on the top-most shelf and this is most probably because it is more expensive than the other chips. Small-sized chips can be seen on the bottom shelves which means young kids may be the target of these specific products. Premium products or leading products can be clearly seen on the eye-level shelves or the shelves that are easy to reach and shoppers can effortlessly view these products.
